Is this a weed? Visual guide to seedlings

Sometimes, it’s hard for even seasoned gardeners to tell a seedling from a weed when they first emerge. It can take a week for seedlings to grow their second set of leaves. The first set of leaves on a seedling are called cotyledons. They are still part of the seed’s embryo and often don’t look like the true leaves of a seedling. Once the second set of leaves emerges, the plant will look a little more like what you may be familiar with. Here is a visual reference to help you get started.
